La prestigiosa publicació anglesa The Economist ha publicat com cada any les seves llistes amb els millors llibres publicats aquest 2014. En l'apartat de ficció, entre els millor llibres publicats en anglès al llarg de l'any, tant de llengua original anglesa com traducció, el setmanari en destaca la versió en anglès del llibre de Joan Sales Uncertain glory. Textualment el setmanari diu: "Originally published in 1956 in heavily censored form, this novel by a Catalan writer who fought in the Spanish civil war and died in 1983 was the first to tell the story of that conflict from the point of view of the losers. A timeless classic about lost illusions, lost ideals, lost youth, now translated into English for the first time". Una bona notícia per a les lletres catalanes.
